Terms of Service

By accessing or using Mimesa, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app or services.

Mimesa is a reading and listening service for public-domain and user-imported books. The current app supports catalog browsing, Standard Ebooks content, LibriVox recordings, Gutendex/Project Gutenberg metadata and EPUB access, local EPUB and text-based PDF imports, AI narration, synced progress, reminders, streaks, and a personal library.

You must be at least 13 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement, or have permission from a parent or guardian.

You are responsible for accurate account information and account security.

You may browse parts of the catalog as a guest, but opening books, syncing progress, using narration, and saving library data may require sign-in.

You must not share, sell, or transfer your account in a way that bypasses limits, abuses the service, or violates these Terms.

You may import EPUB and PDF files into the app. Text-based PDFs are supported; OCR for scanned PDFs is not currently supported.

You keep ownership of content you upload or import. You grant Mimesa a limited license to store, sync, parse, display, convert, generate narration from, and play that content solely to provide the service to you.

You represent that you have the rights needed to upload, store, process, listen to, and generate audio from any content you provide.

You must not upload content that is illegal, infringing, malicious, abusive, privacy-invasive, or otherwise violates these Terms.

User document sync is currently limited to 30 MB per account.

The service may display or fetch public metadata, EPUB files, covers, and recordings from Standard Ebooks, LibriVox, Gutendex, Project Gutenberg, and similar sources.

Public-domain status can vary by country. You are responsible for complying with the copyright laws that apply to you.

Third-party content and services are provided by their respective owners or operators. Mimesa does not guarantee that any third-party catalog, recording, metadata, cover, or download link will always be available, accurate, lawful in every jurisdiction, or error-free.

AI narration may contain mispronunciations, skipped text, incorrect pacing, formatting errors, or other quality variations.

Generated audio is provided for personal use inside Mimesa unless you have the legal rights and permissions needed for another use.

AI narration is subject to preview limits, quotas, rate limits, queue limits, anti-abuse checks, and fair-use controls.

You must not use AI narration for unlawful content, infringing content, bulk generation for resale, account sharing, automated scraping, or attempts to bypass usage limits.

Mimesa may throttle, refuse, suspend, or limit generation if usage appears excessive, abusive, unlawful, or technically harmful.

The current codebase includes a free-preview AI usage system and entitlement state.

If paid subscriptions, trials, or in-app purchases are offered, the applicable app store or payment provider will process billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds under its own rules.

Mimesa does not collect payment card numbers directly through the current app code.

Feature availability, free limits, quotas, catalog availability, and pricing may change over time.

You agree not to:

Mimesa, the app design, code, interface, icons, logos, branding, and related software are owned by Armaan Mhate or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership rights to you.

Feedback you provide may be used to improve the service without obligation to you.

Mimesa may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue features, providers, content sources, quotas, integrations, or support for older app versions.

Mimesa does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.

You may stop using the service at any time.

Mimesa may suspend or terminate access if it believes you violated these Terms, created legal or security risk, abused the service, failed to pay for paid features, or used the service in a way that harms users, providers, or infrastructure.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available."

Mimesa does not provide legal, copyright, accessibility, educational, or professional advice.

Mimesa does not guarantee that books are public domain in your jurisdiction, that generated audio is perfect, or that every imported document will parse correctly.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mimesa and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost data, service interruption, content errors, or third-party service failures.

Where liability cannot be excluded, liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the service in the three months before the claim or USD 50, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Mimesa and its operator from claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your uploaded content, your violation of these Terms, your infringement of third-party rights, or your unlawful use of the service.

This section should be finalized by counsel. The published version should specify the legal operator's governing law and dispute forum, while preserving mandatory consumer protections that apply where users live.

Mimesa may update these Terms at any time. We may notify you through the app, website, store listing, email, or another appropriate method where required by law, platform rules, or when we decide notice is appropriate. Other changes may take effect when posted. Continued use after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
